Origin Story

How a CB radio, a cold thermos, and one bad dock day became The Bandit Trucker.

Every legend starts with a long haul

The Bandit Trucker didn't start in a boardroom. It started on a two-lane blacktop at three in the morning β€” thermos gone cold, CB crackling, watching a dock crew take their sweet time while the clock on the dash ate the load.

That night we started keeping score in our heads. Who treated a driver right, who didn't, which gate to roll past and which one to back into. Trouble was, that score never left the cab.

The name came before the app

"Bandit" was never about breaking the law. It was about the drivers who run the back roads, keep their promises, and deliver when the weather, the dock, and the clock all say otherwise.

They don't ask for a parade. They just want a fair shake at the gate β€” and to know they'll get one before they ever pull in.

The screaming chicken

The Firebird became the badge: a gold-outlined screaming chicken on the hood, a wink at anybody who thought a truck was just a truck. And, for the keen-eyed viewer, you will notice that it is indeed a mockingbird singing his heart out to anyone that will listen.

It says the rig in your mirror belongs to somebody who takes pride in the miles. That's the same pride we wanted to put behind every rating on this site.

Why we built it

For as long as anyone can remember, only one side of this business got rated. Drivers knew which docks to avoid, which receivers were worth the detour β€” but not one ever wrote it down.

The Bandit Trucker is the ledger that never existed. Drivers rate the facilities and the companies they run for; receivers rate the drivers who deliver to them. Same scale, same rules, no favorites.

Where we're headed

We want to change the industry. We want to bring back the dignity, and the honor, of the drivers; to this once noble profession. We are the last of the Cowboys.

Every rating makes the map a little more honest. Every claim puts a real face behind a dock. The convoy gets sharper with each load that gets logged. We know you are a professional, the best of the best. Let us be your microphone and broadcast it to the world. We know your heart is singing, and we at the Bandit Trucker are listening.

Start free, upgrade to Premium when you're ready to run with the convoy, and we'll keep building the tools that make the long haul a shorter one.

Keep it between the ditches.

Lord, Keep These Wheels Rolling Under Me

Verse 1

Three in the morning, thermos gone cold,

CB crackling stories the blacktop told.

Dock crew's taking their sweet, sweet time,

Clock on the dash eating every dime.

I drop it in gear and I thank the Lord,

For the white line humming like a gospel chord.

Pre-Chorus

I don't need a parade, I don't need a name,

Just a fair shake at the gate and a clear interstate.

I keep my promises, I keep it in line,

And I keep the ditches on either side of mine.

Chorus

Lord, keep these wheels rolling under me,

Through the weather, the weight, and the will to be free.

Let the mockingbird sing on the hood of my rig,

Let me carry my pride like a diamond ring.

Keep the blacktop honest, keep the convoy tight,

Keep these wheels rolling β€” rolling through the night.

Verse 2

Gold on the hood where the bird spreads its wings,

A wink at the ones who don't know what it means.

It ain't about breaking, it's about the miles,

The back-road runners and the quiet smiles.

We deliver when the dock and the clock both say no,

That's the honor the highway taught us to know.

Verse 3

Now there's a ledger that never was, and we're writing it down,

Every dock and every driver in every town.

Same scale, same rules, no favorites, no lies,

The last of the Cowboys under these skies.

We broadcast the heart that's been singing all along,

And the Bandit Trucker keeps listening β€” keeps us strong.

Coming Home to You

Verse 1

Thermos gone cold on a Memphis dock,

Six hours watching them watch the clock,

Not a dime for waiting, not a word of thanks,

Just a signed BOL and a half-full tank.

But I hit the bridge where the river runs wide,

Mississippi burning on the driver's side,

And the sun comes up like it rose for me.

Lord, there's a reason I'm out here free.

Pre-Chorus

I don't chase the miles, I chase the memories,

White line humming like a gospel melody.

Give me a fair shake and a clear interstate,

And I'll show you a country worth the wait.

Chorus

So keep it between the ditches, hammer down and roll,

From the Smoky Mountain mornings to the Wyoming cold.

There's a whole continent shining through my windshield glass:

Painted desert, prairie gold, and a Rocky Mountain pass.

Let the mockingbird sing on the hood of this rig.

Every county line's a story, and the world's still big.

I ain't got a lot, but Lord, I got the view.

Keep it between the ditches, I'm coming home to you.

Verse 2

Jake brake singing down the Monteagle grade,

Wildflowers growing where the wagon tracks stayed,

Wyoming wind shoving at my trailer side,

Ninety miles of nothing, and I feel alive.

Saw the northern lights on the Alaska run,

Columbia Gorge catching the setting sun.

Four-wheelers flying with their eyes on a screen,

Missing the most beautiful thing I've seen.

Pre-Chorus

I don't chase the miles, I chase the memories,

From the Gulf Coast salt to the Canadian trees.

They can call it a job, they can call it a grind,

But the whole wide world's been on this road of mine.

Verse 3

My brother's spirit in the jump seat, my wife's on the line

Saying, "Baby, the porch light's on, take your time."

My oldest son keeps asking when he gets to ride,

Wants to see what his daddy sees on the other side.

They say we're the last of the cowboys, well,

Then I'll ride this one with a story to tell.

Every load delivered, every promise kept,

Carrying the country while the country slept.

Pre-Chorus

I don't chase the miles, I chase the memories,

And when they close my logbook for eternity,

Let it say I gave 'em a fair day's haul,

And I stopped to see the beauty of it all.

Final Chorus

So keep it between the ditches, hammer down and roll,

From the Smoky Mountain mornings to the Wyoming cold.

There's a whole continent shining through my windshield glass:

Painted desert, prairie gold, and a Rocky Mountain pass.

Let the mockingbird sing on the hood of this rig.

Every county line's a story, and the world's still big.

I ain't got a lot, but Lord, I got the view.

Keep it between the ditches…

(slower, just voice and steel)

Lord, I'm coming home to you.

Keep it between the ditches

The Legend

Spoken Intro

Now y'all gather 'round, 'cause I'm fixin' to tell you about a driver.

Some folks say he's just a story the old-timers made up at three in the mornin' over a cold cup of coffee.

But you ask any dock hand from Laredo to Lansing,

and they'll lower their voice and tell you the truth.

He's real.

And you'll know him by the bird.

Verse 1

He runs a long-nose rig black as midnight coal,

Twin stacks screamin' like a diesel soul,

Gold wings spread from the hood to the grille,

A mockingbird singing, and he's singing still.

He never missed a window, never broke his word,

Left a hundred Smokies in the dust he stirred,

And the only thing faster than the wheels he rides

Is the story that follows on the CB lines.

Pre-Chorus

Breaker one-nine, is anybody out there?

Got a gold bird runnin' and a bear in the air,

Plain wrapper hidin' by the mile-marker ten,

And the Bandit just waved, then he's gone again.

Chorus

Sing it, Golden Mockingbird, sing it loud and long,

From the Carolina pines to the Oregon dawn.

Screamin' diesel thunder and a heart that's true,

He'll haul it through the devil and deliver to you.

He ain't no outlaw 'cause he broke the law,

He's an outlaw 'cause he gave it all.

Keep your eyes on the mirror and your hands on the wheel,

Golden Mockingbird, singin' how a driver feels.

Verse 2

Down at a warehouse in a Georgia town,

Dock boss had a way of keepin' drivers down:

Eight hours waitin', "Come back next week,"

Treated every trucker like he couldn't speak.

Well, the Bandit rolled in on a Tuesday night,

Didn't throw a punch, didn't start a fight,

Just tipped his hat and he wrote it down,

Now every driver knows the name of that town.

Pre-Chorus

Breaker one-nine, did you hear the word?

There's a ledger on the road, and it's kept by the bird.

Every dock and every driver gets the same fair shake,

Bandit says the honest roads are the ones to take.

Verse 3

Now some say he retired on a Texas ranch,

Some say he's still out haulin' every chance,

Some swear they saw him on the Grapevine grade,

Gold bird shinin' through the mornin' haze.

But the truth, my friend, if you want to know,

Is the Bandit's in every driver on the road.

Every one who keeps their word and keeps their wheels in line

Has got a little bit of Bandit runnin' down their spine.

Spoken Bridge (over CB static, two voices)

"Breaker one-nine, this is Mud Flap, westbound at the Flagstaff line. You got your ears on?"

"Come on back, Mud Flap."

"Swear on my mama, a gold bird just blew by me like I was parked. Smokey was sittin' right there at the on-ramp, and he just tipped his hat."

"Ten-four. That's the Bandit, good buddy. Even the bears know he's on time."

Final Chorus

Sing it, Golden Mockingbird, sing it loud and long,

From the Carolina pines to the Oregon dawn.

Screamin' diesel thunder and a heart that's true,

He'll haul it through the devil and deliver to you.

He ain't no outlaw 'cause he broke the law,

He's an outlaw 'cause he gave it all.

Keep your eyes on the mirror and your hands on the wheel,

Golden Mockingbird, singin' how a driver feels.

Spoken Outro

So if you see a gold bird in your mirror tonight, don't you worry.

Flash your lights, let him on by,

and keep it between the ditches.

Nobody Drives Alone

Song

Verse 1 (Thanksgiving)

Thanksgiving Day at a Nebraska fuel stop,

Turkey on white bread from the cooler top.

Phone on the dash and my family's on the line,

They're saying grace, and I'm saying mine.

I count my blessings in the dome light's glow,

For a thousand tables that I'll never know

That got the bread and the pie and the cranberry too,

'Cause somebody's daddy drove the whole night through.

Pre-Chorus

When the cab gets quiet and the night gets long,

And the radio's playin' somebody else's song,

I hear Him whisper through the frost on the glass:

"I've been right here with you every mile you passed."

Chorus

Nobody drives alone,

He's riding right beside you a long way from home.

He sees the empty chair at your table tonight,

He hears the prayer you whisper in the dashboard light.

Every cold mile you give, Heaven writes it down,

And every lonely highway is holy ground.

So hold on through the darkness, He'll help carry your load.

Nobody drives alone.

Verse 2 (Christmas Eve)

Christmas Eve and the snow's blowin' sideways,

Walkin' 'cross a truck stop off a dark highway,

Boots crunchin' ice under orange parking lights,

A hundred idling engines hummin' through the night.

Then a waitress at the counter in a Santa hat

Says, "Coffee's on the house, hon, come in out of that,"

And I swear in that diner, as cold as it seemed,

I saw a little manger where the neon gleamed.

Verse 3

Somewhere a mama's fillin' up her cart,

Never thinkin' 'bout the miles or a driver's heart.

The milk and the medicine, the presents on the floor,

Every single blessing came through a trailer door.

We tie the coasts together with a white-trailer thread,

We keep the shelves full and the hungry fed.

They may never see us, never know our names,

But the Lord sees the headlights, and He loves us just the same.

Bridge

Mary and Joseph rode a long, cold night,

No room at the inn, not a welcome light.

Heaven's King chose a humble place to land,

So I know He understands every road-worn hand.

I couldn't find a parking spot, I couldn't make it home,

But He was born a traveler, so I'm never on my own.

Final Chorus

Nobody drives alone,

He's riding right beside you a long way from home.

He sees the empty chair at your table tonight,

He hears the prayer you whisper in the dashboard light.

Every cold mile you give, Heaven writes it down,

And every lonely highway is holy ground.

So hold on through the darkness, He'll help carry your load…

(music drops to just piano and steel)

Merry Christmas, driver.

Nobody drives alone.
